Mycena chlorophos

Mycena chlorphos mycelium grown on Malt Yeast Agar, @25 degrees Celcuis for 21 days

Mycena species are characteristic in that they produce small, delicate mushrooms, usually growing on wood and amongst leaf litter.  In agar culture, the colony appears bright around the edge of Petri dishes, and it is probably the higher levels of oxygen around the edge which result in brighter luminescence.  This tropical species might be the inspiration for "torches" used in the Pixar animation "A Bug's Life".
